TOOL-ONLY ISSUE OF REVOLVER MAGAZINE OUT ON MAY 6th

Just a quick heads up about that magazine I mentioned at the beginning of the month: The TOOL-ONLY issue of “REVOLVER” should be out on MAY 6th. I’ll post more about this very special issue later… (ToolArmy members can get more info on the message boards)

Blabbermouth.net is reporting this. I had seen a printed copy the other night when Steve Van Halen brought it in the studio. So cool to see vintage stuff like this…….

Distinctly Oklahoma magazine has published a truly exciting and unique VAN HALEN article in its March 2008 issue. The piece is focused on the touring history of the legendary band as it pertains to Oklahoma during the David Lee Roth era.

Several previously unpublished vintage 1970s-’80s pictures, setlists, and concert dates are revealed in the meticulously researched 2,000-word article, which features numerous anecdotes about the classic VAN HALEN spectacles.

VAN HALEN has rescheduled the tour dates postponed due to guitarist Eddie Van Halen’s unspecified medical condition, according to Pollstar.com. The band will warm up on April 19 with a performance at Tiger Woods‘ charity event, Tiger Jam XI, in Las Vegas. Then the quartet will head to Cincinnati to launch the tour on April 22, with shows running through June 2 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Tickets for all the original dates are good for the new shows, and refunds are also available at point of purchase.

The band’s first tour in 22 years with David Lee Roth on the mic was put on hold earlier this month, with promoters stating that Eddie Van Halen was undergoing “medical tests to define a course of treatment.” A recurrence of cancer or a fall off the wagon were both rumored as the cause of the guitarist’s woes, with the National Enquirer even reporting that he checked into a Texas rehab clinic.

Eddie’s ex-wife, actress Valerie Bertinelli, said in People magazine that the reports about him being in rehab were incorrect.

MOTLEY CRUE PLANS ‘COLOSSAL’ ANNOUNCEMENT

Motley Crue plans to make a “colossal” announcement on April 15th in Los Angeles, according to a press release. All four members of the group will be present at a location yet to be determined for what the release hyped as “by far…one of the biggest music announcements of the year!!” The band is also launching a contest in which one grand prize winner from each major city in the country will be flown to Los Angeles to cover the announcement, complete with a chance to interview the band and have the interview broadcast live. • The band is currently working on its ninth studio album and first featuring all four original members since 1997’s Generation Swine. Bassist Nikki Sixx said in a statement, “Tommy’s (Lee, drums) kickin’ ass, Vince (Neil, vocals) sounds insane and (Mick) Mars is shredding on guitars. It doesn’t feel like one song is better or worse than any other. It feels so good to be excited about something you’ve worked on so hard…I’m so excited for you all to hear it.”
• The album, titled The Dirt after the group’s memoir of the same name, is tentatively due out on July 8th, with a world tour slated to begin around the same time.
