Long Honeymoon?

Now that we have an NBA team secured for Oklahoma City. The question looms how long will the fans support a bad team? We will definitely find out.

Last year the Sonics were the second worst team in the league. Only the Miami Heat had less wins. And you would think the Heat would be much better this season with the addition of Michael Beasley in their lineup.

So there’s a chance Oklahoma City could have fewer wins than any other team in the league. This will be an honeymoon year. The fans aren’t going to expect much. They are just excited about having their own team.

What this team has to do is build around Kevin Durant. He has a chance to be a star. Even though he’s a Texas player, he will become a fan favorite from day one. He can become a scoring machine. And he can become one of the better players in the league.

But there are a lot of problems. This team is weak at center. And I don’t know how good they are at point guard. It’s not a good thing to struggle at those two key positions.

So it is probably going to take time for this franchise to become good and become a playoff threat. How long will the fans be supportive?

I think it’s going to be a long honeymoon. The people here know the situation. They are just going to enjoy the moment. They’re going to enjoy the NBA experience. It’s a fun thing.

But honeymoons do end. I give this Oklahoma City team four years to become decent before the fans become very tired of losing.
